You Challenge- Week 9 "Music"

http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/

Yes its Tuesday and time to link up with Lauren and Tiffany again.

This week is MUSIC!
I have been thinking about this post since the beginning of this YOU challenge.

I was raised on music and love many different kinds.  My favorite thing to do is to turn up the music when I am hanging out at home or picking up which is all of the time.  My husband is the one singing the tunes out loud and playing the same song over and over until he knows every word.  He also introduced me to every other kind of music that I hadn't listened to before.  Our children are music lovers as well and are always wanting to sing and dance.  We are one music loving family to say the least.

I just couldn't do this post without giving you a little bit of my background.  My Mom was always playing Aerosmith, Eagles, Led Zepplin, Fleetwood Mac etc...I had a step parent-for a while who was a drummer in a band so we were also involved in music in the lines of Creedence Clearwater Revival and such.  I lived with my grandmother for a few years and I picked up much musical diversity from them as well.  One Aunt was always playing Rap in one of her music phases.  The other was playing Eddie and the Cruisers, The Rolling Stones, The Dixie Chicks, Van Morrison and anything else we could sing to the top of our lungs to while being back to back sitting behind her bedroom door. It is just what we did.

We always had big bonfires and such on the weekends and had family gatherings often.  Oh and every Saturday night where we lived played old country songs all night.  We jammed to Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., George Jones, Randy Travis and so on.  We even did some Cookie and the Cupcakes, Al Green and some much older stuff.  Every wedding you went to or party out in the country you were sure to hear songs like Clarence Carters Strokin' and pretty much any other good dancing song.  I come from a cajun background, so I have a love for blues, jazz and that down on the bayou music.  As I got older I became fond of classical, alternative, R & B, I love the monster ballads era, rock, christian music etc.  So you can see how difficult choosing 2 songs would be for me.  I have lived in the life of music.  I don't really care for Opera much, techno or hardcore screaming music.  However, if I am in a bad mood songs with screaming makes me feel better sometimes.  I know I am weird.

The best way to do this is just to go with 2 songs that pop in my head.  I omitted the parts that don't apply and also the repeat chorus to try to shorten the length.

Pink is in my top favorite female artists list! This video is so funny and I can relate to this song.

I don't know if I can yell any louder,
How many times have I kicked you out of here?
Or said something insulting?

I can be so mean when I wanna be,
I am capable of really anything,
I can cut you into pieces,
When my heart is, broken
.

Please don't leave me
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please don't leave me

How did I become so obnoxious,
What is it with you that makes me act like this,
I've never been this nasty,
Can't you tell that this is all just a contest?
The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest,
But baby I don't mean it,
I mean it, I promise

I forgot to say out loud,
How beautiful you really are to me,
I can't be without,
You're my perfect little punching bag,
And I need you,
I'm sorry.
Please, please don't leave me
Baby, please don't leave me (no, don't leave me)
Please don't leave me
(I always say) I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this

I always say how I don't need you,
But it's always gonna come right back to this,
(Please, Please) Please don't leave me,
Baby, please, please don't leave me.

There is profanity, so sorry if it offends anyone, but this song gets me on my down days.

Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everybody has their private world
Where they can be alone

Are you calling me?
Are you trying to get through?
Are you reaching out for me?
I'm reaching out for you

I'm just so f**king depressed
I just can't seem to get out this slump
If I could just get over this hump
But I need something to pull me out this dump

I took my bruises, took my lumps
Fell down and I got right back up
But I need that spark to get psyched back up
And I know some sh*t's so hard to swallow
But I can't just sit back and wallow
In my own sorrow but I know one fact
I'll be one tough act to follow

One tough act to follow
I'll be one tough act to follow
Here today, gone tomorrow
But you'd have to walk a thousand miles

In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
I'll be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what it'd be like

To feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others' minds
Just to see what we'd find
Look at sh*t through each others' eyes

Just as soon as I walk in, it's like all eyes on me
And so I try to avoid any eye contact
'Cause if I do that then it opens the door
For conversation, like I want that

I'm not looking for extra attention
I just wanna be just like you
Blend in with the rest of the room
Maybe just point me to the closest restroom

So why don't you all sit down
Listen to the tale I'm about to tell
Hell, we don't gotta trade our shoes
And you ain't gotta walk no thousand miles

In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
I'll be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what it'd be like

To feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others minds
Just to see what we'd find
Look at shit through each others eyes

Nobody asked for life to deal us
With these bullsh*t hands we're dealt
We gotta take these cards ourselves
And flip 'em, don't expect no help

I was never the type of kid
To wait by the door and pack his bags
I sat on the porch and hoped and prayed
For a dad to show up who never did

I just wanted to fit in
Every single place, every school I went
I dreamed of being that cool kid

Even if it meant acting stupid

But I already told you my whole life story
Not just based on my description
'Cause where you see it, from where you're sittin
It's probably 110% different

I guess we would have to walk a mile
In each others shoes at least

Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
just stay true to you

And to the rest of the world
God gave you shoes to fit you
So put 'em on and wear 'em
Be yourself man, be proud of who you are
Even if it sounds corny
Don't ever let anyone tell you you ain't beautiful.
Those are my 2 and I am off to get my music fill.
Technology has came such a long way. I LOVED sitting outside with my battery/plug in boombox recording, rewinding, playing and re-recording music from the radio....it was the best!
