DIY~ Personalize Candle With Engraved Key

http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/

This was SO easy to make and I am in love with all kinds of keys right now.
I really like this candle and how it came out, don't you.

Here's the How To:
Candle ~ 2.74 x 6 in.- I got this at Big Lots on sale for .75
Scrap booking page- 12 x 12 Transparent/Pearled/Pink Swirl sheet- A.C. Moore- .59
Pack of engraved keys {on the scrap booking isle} I used 40% off coupon $5 for like 6- A.C. Moore
Pack of plastic red heart table scatters- $1 Tree
Piece of silver ribbon
Piece of Jute cord
Double sided tape

I made the candle stand as well....that will be in a future post.

Take your page and wrap it around the candle and carefully trim around the bottom of the candle with a
X-acto tool.  Cut length wise to wrap around candle with a little extra to go under the other side.

Place double side tape along the bottom layer of your page.
Tightly wrap around your trimmed to fit scrap booking paper and attach the top.
Smooth over a few times to make sure it sticks.

I don't have a heating tool yet, but I took my hair dryer and
went over the taped section to make it melt a little to stay longer.

Tie your ribbon and your jute with the key on it (together, jute on top) tie in a little bow in the back.

All done!

Contribution for "Inspiration in Progress"  every Thursday.

Pay It Forward Challenge

I've joined the Blogger's 2013 Creative Pay It Forward!!

Details:

The first 5 people to comment and leave their email and blog address, will receive from me, sometime in the calendar year, a small gift-perhaps a card, baked good, hair clips, candles--something handmade by me....a surprise in the mail!  {Let's connect socially}

There will be no warning, but once I know that the recipient has indeed received the surprise, I will blog about the gift I sent and count down the five surprises with all my blog readers!

The Catch:

Those 5 people will have to make the same offer on their blog!

Okay, so how fun is this?!! If you happen to be one of the lucky 5, I will be contacting you today to get your address-that way it will really be a surprise when it arrives!

I would also love for you join my GFC or other social connections we may have, so we can stay in touch better.

Thanks to my pal Amy @ Clippie Dips for this wonderful opportunity to Pay It Forward!  I am a huge fan of paying it forward.  Even the smallest thing could mean the world to someone else.

*DUE to the lack of interest- I chose to toss this and when my fan base is higher, I will attempt again.

Saturday Creation Spotlighting "Good Girl Gone Wife"

Hello, Consider Me Inspired readers! My name is Alex, and I blog over at Good Girl Gone Wife(among other places -- I may have a blogging addiction). I'm a preschool teacher with an Etsy shop on the side, and my husband and I sumo wrestle for fun (yes, really, but not with the diaper things -- just in whatever we happen to be wearing when he yells "SUMO!!!!"). I'm the undefeated champion :)

I'm so excited to be featured for the Saturday Creations Spotlight! Thanks so much Amy!

I LOVE DIY anything, and would eventually love for my home to be filled with as many DIY things as possible. But since I also love to cook and bake, and my DIY addiction can't really be fed on my current budget, I decided to share a recipe with you today!

I've been doing a gluten-free elimination diet this month to see if it helped my digestion at all, and I've noticed that most recipes for gluten-free baked goods require several types of flour, and/or xantham gum, and/or guar gum...I think you're picking up what I'm putting down. It's a lot, and gluten-free flour is EXPENSIVE...I can't imagine having to buy all those different flours at once! With that in mind, I wanted to create a recipe that only needed one gluten-free flour, and was tasty and satisfying. I like to think I've done that :)

Gluten-Free Mug Brownie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1tbsp water
  • 4 tbsp pure maple syrup (I'm talking the real stuff here, not Mrs. Butterworth)
  • 2tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3.5 tablespoons rice flour (I used Bob's Red Mil)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • dash of salt

Step 1 - melt the coconut oil

Measure out the coconut oil into a mug.

Microwave on high for 45 seconds. If your oil isn't melted by then, microwave in 5 second increments until melted.

Step 2 - add the other ingredients

Pretty self-explanatory. Put all the ingredients in the mug and stir it up.

The batter will look a little lumpy, and that's okay.

Step 3 - nuke it

Cook the brownie in the microwave for 60 seconds. And there you have it -- your brownie is done!

The texture is a little different than a traditional brownie, but not really in a bad way. It's warm, chocolatey, and delicious.

I actually ended up eating mine by pouring a little milk on top. It gave it more of a pudding-like texture, and it was awesome! It tasted like Coco Wheats, which is NEVER a bad thing :)

Thanks again to Amy for featuring me! Make sure to stop by Good Girl Gone Wife and say hi!

Scrumptious Sloppy Joes!

Sorry guys, I am just on a food kick right now.  I love crafting, but I love cooking just as much. : )  I just don't like the cleaning up part of it haha.  I have tons of foods I have wanted to share and this one is a tasty sloppy joe mix.  Have you ever watched The Pioneer Woman on Food Network?  Well, she is one of my favorites to watch.  She is also a blogger so she has an entire site of all her awesome creations, even if they haven't been on Food Network.  Every Saturday morning...you can guarantee that I will be watching Ree then Trisha Yearwood if they are on.  Trisha can sing her butt off AND can cook.  She recently made some chocolate sauce(from her MS gal pal) to go over a homemade biscuit recipe for breakfast.  Being from MS, I feel like I seriously missed the boat on this one, so I feel like I HAVE to make that delectable sauce.

I alter almost everything in any recipe in some way, shape or form so here goes one of the best tasting sloppy joe mixes I have made. So naturally I would change up Ree's sloppy joe recipe and make it my own.   I normally sautee' onions and tomato paste....base to spaghetti sauce and add a bit of water, garlic powder, and Worcestershire Sauce and simmer.   Buttery, toasted buns are always a must have.

Homemade Strawberry Bread Pudding

One of my all time favorite desserts is Bread Pudding.  Like always, my dear hubby brings home all these treats and gourmet breads.....so delicious and so bad.  I recently decided to go outside the box with the yummy Strawberry bread he brought home.  Being that Valentines is coming up and is all things pink and red, I had to make it.  I have never heard or seen any flavored bread puddings, just sauces, so I would like to think of this as my very own creation.

I knew I would be starting the new "Slim by the Summer" challenge with a group of fantastic other blogging ladies at the start of the week so I made it the day before so I could enjoy a piece.  The challenge started this week by the way if you would like to join us.   Something like this would not be welcome in the first phase of kickoff for my lifestyle change.  Everything in moderation is all good, unless you are a dessert{sugar} addict like myself then it has to be limited greatly.  This was the last indulging dessert I had.

http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/

Such beautiful colors!

http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/

Recipe:
* 23 ounces of Fresh{turned stale} Strawberry bread.
-ours came from Abbott Farms.
* 2 egg whites
* Approx. 2 cups Milk - I just poured some in.
* Honey
* Marshmallow Fluff

Whisk your milk and egg whites together.
Tear your bread into nice chunks and drop it into your mixing bowl.
Fold your bread into your wet mix until it is all covered. (the size will reduce)

Butter your casserole dish or pan. I  used a round casserole dish.
Pour your mix in and press down.
* I don't like to smash it all into the bowl so I I just press it all down until it is even and has a nice flat surface but has some air holes left.  It will cook down.

350 degrees for about 20 minutes.  Just watch it, it will puff slightly.
Pull it out and pour about 1/4 cup of honey on top and spread it out.
Pop it back into the oven for about 10 more minutes.

Pour about 1 cup of Marshmallow fluff on top and spread and it will turn into that gooey deliciousness all by itself.

DIY~ Felt and Crochet Flower Hair Clips

After Christmas  I picked up a few random felt flowers, crochet flower pins and paper flower accessories on sale for only .50 at Micheals.  I am always on the look out for a great deal.  I went into the store for little 110 piece art sets for 2.49 and came out with a bag full.  Little note books, magnet note pads, pencils, smelly hand soap and other stuff.   I did buy the pencils for Kaylei's pencil box.  The little note books, magnet note pads, soaps, art sets and a pack of pencils, along with a bunch of other stuff went in a bin for the the local Battered Women and Children's Shelter so it really was worth it and it always feels really good to give back.  I can only hope that it made someones day a little brighter to get a goody bag for the holidays and to know someone was thinking about them.

Marble Painted-Pop Up Card Tutorial

One of my favorite things to do when I was younger was to make pop up cards.  Now I am making them with my kids.  A great alternative to store bought cards.  You get to have your own personalized cards and not break the bank doing it.  The great thing about these home made cards is it is a great project for any time of year and are sure to make everyone smile.

Painting with marbles:

Small Marbles
Large Marbles
Kids friendly paint
A 12 pk water flat or small baking pan
Place your picture in the box or pan.
Pour some paint in the paint cap and shake/roll your marble around until fully covered with paint.
Turn your cap over and let the marble drop on the picture and wiggly the box/pan around.
Repeat until you get the desired result.
You can place more marbles in at the same time then wiggly for more effect.

Saturday Creations Spotlighting "The Pink Momma"

Hi I'm Anne, I'm coming over from The Pink Momma. As what my blog name says, I am a fan of Pink. Yes! It's my favorite color! Ha! I'm a stay-at-home mom to my little girl, she's 11 months old. I love to cook and bake. Making and decorating cakes is my passion and I'm hoping to have my own bakeshop someday.

That's me with my little one!

Today I will share a cupcake recipe.

Pink Velvet Cupcake with Whipped Cream Frosting

Recipe from Taste of Home

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon pink paste food coloring
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk

For Whipped Cream Frosting:

1 1/4 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
5 teaspoons cold water
1 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream
5 tablespoons confectioner's sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (use clear vanilla extract if you want your frosting to be white)

Directions:

In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar and food coloring until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Fill paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350° for 23-27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

For Whipped Cream Frosting:

In a small saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over water; let stand for 1 minute to soften. Heat over low heat, stirring until gelatin is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat; cool just to room temperature. In a large bowl, beat cream and gelatin mixture until it begins to thicken. Add sugar and vanilla; beat until soft peaks form.

Come and visit me at The Pink Momma for more sweets. I am also hosting a blog hop party every Friday so please come stop by :)

Happy baking!

Coffee Filter Mini Cake

So I thought that this was super awesome that I made a little mini heart cake with a coffee filter.  Neat huh!  Well, I had some left over batter and was out of cupcake liners so I grabbed the next best thing...a coffee filter.  I positioned some spoons in the right spots and Vola!  The top spoon was a metal teaspoon and it fit perfectly against the pie pan and then I lined the sides with tablespoons to keep the heart shape.

Same recipe as the Marble Heart Cupcakes but with some more jazz.

Look how awesome they turned out:

Oreo Marble Heart Cupcake Tutorial

My Inspiration was a pin on Pinterest!

It was the heart cupcakes with the help of a marble, so I made
Oreo Marble Heart Cupcakes

http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/

What you need:

1 box of white cake mix~ follow box instructions
1 row of double stuffed oreos crushed finely
Marbles

So easy.

I was really wondering about this marble method for a while now.  I am glad Valentines is coming up so I had an excuse to make them and who doesn't love oreos!  I am all out of Halloween themed cupcake papers now.  This is the 2nd time I have made cupcakes and had to use Halloween themed cupcake papers....lol.

When you put the paper in and put a little batter in, it does a fold in somewhere.  I just put my marble in that spot and filled them to the level I wanted them.  Then into the oven they went.  They looked funny at first but after they cooled a majority of them looked like hearts.  Pretty cool huh!  I put some cream cheese frosting on them and sprinkle some of the left over crumbs on top.

My husband gave me some beautiful roses when he got back from work on this day and I just had to take a picture of them.

New Places, Romantic Adventures {Guest Post}

When life weighs you down and the weight of the world is on your shoulders, all you may need is a simple and adventurous weekend away. A trip does not have to be planned specifically with the idea of romantic candlelit evenings. But no matter where you go –as long as you are together– it can be a romantic experience.

 A Romantic Beach-Front House

During the summer, couples look for a fun place to go. Although many have been to the beach many times, this can always be a new adventure. Rent a beach-front home and enjoy a true beach vacation. Quite often couples just visit the beach one day on their vacation. Why not wake up to the beautiful scenery and the smell of the ocean every morning? During the day, beaches are crowded and hectic, but you can avoid those crowds with a house on the beach. When the sun goes down, you and that special person can experience the beach with the privacy you desire too.

 Cuddle at the Ski Lodge

For couples who either enjoy active sports or want to try something new, ski lodges are the answer. A ski lodge offers many activities as well as that romantic alone time. Of course, ski resorts are specifically for those who wish to ski. However, there are many other activities as well. Some offer swimming pools, outdoor ice skating rinks, little shops, spas, restaurants and much more. This type of romantic vacation allows you to share many new adventures together as a couple, as well as get that much needed alone time before heading back to everyday grind.

Around the World

Adventurous vacations do not have to be cliff diving or bungee jumping. A romantic yet adventurous time together can simply be going somewhere new. Many dream of going to Paris or Italy, and this could be your opportunity! A great gift to purchase for your significant other is a trip to somewhere in the world that they have always wanted to go. You can find Delta flights or tickets through other airlines to get you to your destination. It is important to have an outline for everything that you both want to see and do while you are there. Take your time. Your schedule does not have to be set in stone. No matter where you choose to go, it will give you great stories and memories to last forever. No matter what may happen in your day-to-day life, a vacation can always help. There are great options whether you like the outdoors or elegant dinners. Many vacation options can fulfill both desires. You can always find a place that can leave a couple with a great and enjoyable vacation.

*Consideration was received for the editing and publishing of this post.

Thank you AC for the great reminder of the bountiful options for having a romantic adventure in a new place.  Just in time for Valentines.

Come back Thursday for a

Give Yourself a Pat on the Back- Organizing

Don't you just love moments like that!  I have been on such a productive role lately.  I am actually getting things done.  I decided I was responsible for my own undoing....all of the moments of being overwhelmed with everything around me.  Seriously, I am the type of person that starts on one project and before you know it the entire house is a disaster area.  It is not that I do it intentionally, but I under estimate the actual amount of time it really takes to organize all of the stuff.  Too many things, not enough space.  This house was perfect for us when we moved here almost 5 years ago, but now we have out grown it.  When the house was built it just seems like it really wasn't meant for a "family".  It is a great size, just missing many things.  Anyhoo, I will get off of that subject because it is never ending.

Over the years I have collected many kinds of bins, containers, baskets and many other organizational tools to make everything better.  The set up is just not right and even though it is nice and neat it still just doesn't look "organized".  I am going to continue to search for a method to my madness.

This is what I have been up to the last few days...well the days my husband was at work.  He helped out with some of the harder moving Sunday, which was much appreciated.

Since Last Week:
Bleached the counters
Cleaned the microwave
Mopped
Dusted
Cleaned the chandelier light in LR
Organized the bookshelf in the hallway
85% complete on organizing the shelf set up in the living room{BIG project}
I pulled all of my magazines & started sticky noting the things I have held on to them for
I also starting working on a detailed time schedule draft
Got some Mommy Group stuff done
Moved around the Living room
Moved around our bedroom
Got everything that didn't need to be out put up out the way
Got little mans race car bed to Once Upon a Child for cash
Had nice planned out meals for the weekend
Got some exercise in....WIN!

OH AND THE BEST ONE.....I not only have not missed one days blog posting on my normal M-F schedule but I also managed to get one in on Saturday...which I normally don't do.  Last Saturday my own and for now on I will be doing a "Saturday Creations Spotlight" for some nice fellow blogger mingling.  I mean I have got to be doing something right if it working.

I figured out that for me it is actually hard to document the amount of time throughout my day.   Being on the SAHM schedule I have been on....well I really just have the mommy and wife to do list.  I do need to get better at spreading out my time and getting more done. Fitting everything together.  I finally think I am on to something that works for me.

I am in my Analyze/Declutter/Organize stage.

What have I been doing:  Secluding my projects and preventing myself from moving from the given project until it is complete or at a productive pausing point.  If the given project should need to stretch to a different room...I just put it there and go back to what I was doing.  I did tend to mix rooms slightly this weekend but it's not a biggie.

What is working for me:  Instead of scheduling things a month out and the plans changing, I decided per week is working the best.  I find I have more control within a week than the month.  Plans are on a simpler and a more workable layout.

Progress not Perfection!

How is your goals for the New Year going?

Saturday Creations Spotlighting "A Creative Princess"

Featuring:

Hi Consider Me Inspired readers! I'm so happy to be here with you today! Thank you, Amy, for inviting me.

I'm Terri and I do a little crafting over at A Creative Princess.

I thought I would show you today how just a little change and something oh so simple can change the look of drab candles.

The Best Things in Life are Free

 http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/

I have said many times...simple things make me happy. The kind of happy that if you could see my heart it would be smiling.  Yeah, I know that's kinda weird but I don't know how else to say it.  I always know what I want to say, but I am not too sure in how to say it the right way.  I wanted to share something with ya'll on a more personal level.

Bath Fun

When I was little I would pretend that I was a mermaid; blow bubbles under the water{eck gross, I know}; talk to hear myself with my under water ears and bubble baths was the best.  Now my daughter does this.

My 7 year old takes FOREVER in the bathroom.  I mean I have never seen anyone take so long.  I am not all to sure what she is doing.  I know she likes to write on the mirror in the bathroom after she gets out because it is all fogged over but other than that...I have no clue.  She has eczema pretty bad so she has to have certain soaps and stuff.  I normally have to get her to take showers only because the chlorine in this water gets her itching.  Her daddy got her some Aveeno bath wash/lotion sets the other day to use, so I went ahead and ran her bath water.   She is a big girl, so I let her do her thing.  I will help wash out the top of her hair because she doesn't do such a great job with that.  I squeezed her a little bath wash in the running water to hopefully soften the harsh water a little and went on about washing dishes.
She gets out; dries off and gets ready for bed.  Like 3 hours  later I go into the bathroom and was partially shocked. Yes, I expected the clothes and towels all over.  The normal slew of toys and full cups of water lining the sides of the bath tub with dolls, pet shops and other toys taking personal bath time until their next bath play time was missing.  {random bit- They use to have water guns in the bath basket but then after the ceiling started having water dripping from it, I put a stop to that real quick.}

Turn Your Recipe Into a Business! {Guest Post}

Anyone who likes to cook has likely thought about taking their talents into the professional realm. Whether it be opening a restaurant, consulting or starting a catering business, there are a variety of different ways that you can turn your cooking into a business. In order to do so, however, you can't simply jump into the situation blindly hoping that you're taking the right path. After all, a lot of work goes into creating the perfect food service establishment; it doesn't happen overnight. With the following tips on your side, however, you can work towards turning your masterful, handed-down recipe in a business!

Find Your Niche

The world of fine-dining and food service is truly a labyrinth, and many people find it difficult to navigate. This being said, you've got to find a niche that will work with the type of food that you're trying to do. Do you have a recipe that would lend itself well too a busy urban food cart, or perhaps one that could be the basis for a fine-dining restaurant? Finding a niche is truly the only way to ensure that your concept stands out from the crowd, and is more than worth working towards.

Hire Someone With Experience

Once you've settled on a niche, you've got to think about how you're going to make it all happen. You could certainly save a lot of money by handling everything on your own, but the fact is you won't be doing yourself any favors in the long-run by taking this route. Hiring someone with experience is extremely important in this scenario, as it will help to ensure that you don't make any major mistakes during the process. Look for someone who has been in the business for many years and has a proven track record of making things happen; otherwise, you'll be taking a huge gamble.

Build Out the Space Right

No matter how good the food you're serving is, you'll find it difficult to make a huge splash in the restaurant world if you don't build out your space properly. The right interior can make all the difference in the world and is worth working towards putting together. Companies such as Image Textile sell items that are perfect for bringing your restaurant to new heights, and are worth looking into.
